BRANDBUSTERS LIVE

I don't start with the stage. I start with what the event needs to change.

I design and direct conferences and corporate events that have a specific business mission. As Event Director on the client side, I bring purpose, narrative, programme, budget, people and delivery together into one coherent experience.

From meetings of key leaders to conferences for more than 500 participants.

01

An event has a specific job to do for the business.

An event can launch a new strategy, mobilise sales, rebuild a team's energy, connect partners or prepare the organisation for change. It can also remain an expensive meeting that is quickly forgotten.

The difference doesn't start with the set design. It starts with the answers to three questions: what should participants understand, what should they feel, and what should they do when they return to their day-to-day work?

It isn't only about participants saying “that was great”. It's about them knowing what comes next — and wanting to do it.

02

One person who sees the whole picture.

In many companies, responsibility for a major event lands with a team that is running the day-to-day business at the same time. There is a lack of time, experience or one person with the mandate to decide. Each supplier is responsible for their piece, but nobody looks after the whole participant journey and the business purpose of the event.

I join the project as Event Director and client-side project lead. I am not an events agency and I don't sell an off-the-shelf event package. I represent the company's interests, build the concept, select people and partners, negotiate terms, clarify responsibilities and lead the project through to the finish.

Production, technical set-up, set design, logistics and hosting are delivered by carefully selected specialists. My role is to make every element work towards one goal.

03

From the first decision to the last item on the programme.

  1. 01.

    Event mission and purpose

Defining the event's role, audiences, the change expected and the criteria for success.

  2. 02.

    Concept and narrative

The central theme, key messages and the story that connects every part of the event.

  3. 03.

    Programme and agenda

Talks, workshops, discussions, networking, entertainment and the right rhythm for the whole day or trip.

  4. 04.

    Participant experience

Every stage — from the invitation to the finale. Visuals, lighting, set design, transitions and music should guide participants through a planned journey.

  5. 05.

    Venue and suppliers

Choosing the venue, agencies, production, hosts, artists and other partners needed to deliver the concept.

  6. 06.

    Budget and negotiation

Comparing proposals, negotiating costs, prioritising spend and protecting the elements that matter most to the event's impact.

  7. 07.

    Project organisation and safety

Timeline, areas of responsibility, decision points, rehearsals, the minute-by-minute run sheet and risk management.

  8. 08.

    Event day and follow-up

Coordinating the whole, making quick decisions during delivery, and planning communication and actions after the event.

04

Mission first. Then the stage.

  1. 01

    Strategic brief

We establish why the event exists, who it is for and what it should change.

  2. 02

    Concept

I build the central theme, narrative, programme structure and the initial participant journey.

  3. 03

    Team and budget

We select suppliers, venue and hosts. We clarify roles, costs and how decisions are made.

  4. 04

    Production

We refine the programme, communication, scripts, materials, rehearsals and the delivery plan.

  5. 05

    Live and follow-up

We run the event in line with its mission, and afterwards turn participants' energy into further action.

05

The format follows the purpose.

Sometimes the right format is a big stage. Sometimes a series of workshops. And sometimes an intimate meeting where decisions are made that matter more than the whole show.

  • strategy and management conferences
  • sales events and kick-offs
  • launches of new strategies, brands and products
  • partner and franchise conferences
  • events combining a stage programme with workshops
  • galas, anniversaries and celebrations of success
  • team events and team-building programmes
  • meetings of owners, boards and key leaders

06

Scope matched to the situation.

  • Event Direction 360

Full project leadership — from a blank page, through the concept and selection of partners, to delivering the event.

  • Concept & Program

The company already has a venue or agency but needs a strategic concept, narrative, agenda and someone to hold the content layer together.

  • Project Rescue

The project is already under way but needs restructuring, senior management, budget decisions or regaining control before the deadline.

Hosting the stage is agreed separately. Depending on the nature of the event, I can host it myself or work with a carefully selected, experienced host.

07

I know how many details separate a good plan from an event that really works.

I have experience designing and directing conferences for more than 500 participants. I have delivered events combining a strategic session, workshops, branding, an elaborate stage production, networking, a gala and performances by well-known artists.

I look after budget decisions and supplier coordination as well as the elements that are easy to dismiss as minor: the order of talks, transitions between parts of the programme, the energy in the room and well-chosen music. These are what turn an event into a coherent journey rather than a set of unconnected items.

On request, I provide references from the people responsible for events I designed and directed. Because some projects were internal, I don't publish all materials and names on the website.

This makes sense when…

  • the event is meant to support an important business goal,
  • the company lacks the time or experience to lead the whole project internally,
  • you need one person responsible for the coherence of every element,
  • you want to keep control of the budget and the quality of delivery,
  • you already have an agency but need a senior partner representing the company's interests,
  • you care about both the emotions and the result after the event.

If you only need the cheapest venue, catering and a list of attractions, I'm probably not the right partner. If the event is meant to matter to the business — let's talk.

FAQ

Are you an events agency?

No. I act as Event Director and project manager on the company's side. I select and coordinate the agencies and specialist suppliers needed to deliver the event.

Can you join a project that is already under way?

Yes. I can take over leadership of the whole project, restructure it, or take responsibility for a selected area: concept, programme, negotiation, production or preparing the stage.

How large are the events you direct?

The scope can range from intimate meetings of owners and leaders to conferences for more than 500 participants.

Do you host events yourself?

Yes, if it suits the nature of the event. In other cases I work with experienced hosts and help choose the right person for the audience and the narrative.

How do you price the engagement?

After a conversation and a brief, I present the scope of responsibility, stages, timeline and the fee for my involvement. Supplier and production budgets are kept clearly separate from the fee for managing the project.

When is the best time to start?

The earlier, the more influence there is over the venue, budget, programme and choice of suppliers. If the date is already close, we first assess what can still be safely put in order.

Let's design an event that does its job.

Tell me the purpose of the event, how many participants you are planning for, the date you are considering and what should change once it's over. I'll respond with an initial assessment of scope and a proposed next step.
